Today, we will take a look at the biggest NFL matchup of the year, The Super Bowl.
Rams vs. Bengals
This years Super Bowl will feature the first ever matchup where both starting quarterbacks had losing regular season records coming into the post season. Joe Burrow (12-13-1) and Matthew Stafford (86-95-1). Cincinnati won just six games in the 2019 and 2020 season (6-25-1). That is the fewest wins in two seasons prior to a Super Bowl appearance in NFL history. They are also the first team to go 30+ years without a playoff win and snap that streak with an appearance in the Super Bowl. With 54 yards last week, Ja’Marr Chase has now surpassed Torry Holt for most postseason receiving yards by a rookie (279). In the NFC Championship game, the Rams became the first team to enter the fourth quarter of a conference championship with a double digit deficit and come back to win. Cooper Kupp is has a touchdown reception in all 3 of his post season games so far. The only player in NFL history to have 4 straight games with a postseason touchdown reception is Larry Fitzgerald in 2008.The Rams currently have 7 players who have scored 5+ touchdowns for them this season, the most of any team since the 2018 New England Patriots. Rams Tackle, Andrew Whitworth played 11 seasons with the Bengals before joining the rams in 2017. He will now take on his long-time former team in the Super Bowl.
