Today we will be previewing two games, both on the NCAA Tournament slate.
CBB:
Houston @ Arizona
Two storied programs face off for the first time ever in the NCAA Tournament tonight when the Arizona Wildcats (33-3) take on the Houston Cougars (31-5) in the South Region Semifinal in San Antonio. Houston has won five straight games and 11 of its past 12, advancing to the Sweet 16 for the third straight season. Arizona is making its first Sweet 16 appearance in six years. The Cougars defeated UAB handily in the round of 64, before most recently beating Illinois in the last round, 68-53. The Wildcats beat Wright State 97-60 in the first round, before out slugging a tough TCU team 85-80 in the round of 32.
Texas Tech @ Duke
The No. 2 seeded Duke Blue Devils (30-6) look to extend Coach K’s career for at least one more game when they take on the Texas Tech Red Raiders (27-9) in the West Region Semifinal in San Francisco. The Red Raiders routed Montana State and rallied to beat Notre Dame to reach the Sweet 16 for the fifth time, three of them coming since 2018. In fact, Texas Tech is 11-3 over the past four NCAA Tournaments. Duke on the other hand, defeated Cal State Fullerton in the first round 78-61, then went on to defeat Michigan state 85-76 in the round of 32. The Blue Devils are averaging 80.3 points per game this season. These teams have faced off once in school history, back in 2018, when Duke won 69-58 at Madison Square Garden.
