Today we will be previewing two games, both on the NCAA Tournament slate.
North Carolina @ UCLA
In the Sweet Sixteen of the East Region, the North Carolina Tarheels (26-9) will take on the UCLA Bruins (27-7) in a battle of these college basketball blue bloods. After obliterating Marquette in the first round of the NCAA Tournament, 95-63, Carolinas high powered offense had another 90+ point game against No. 1 seeded Baylor in a 93-86 overtime win. On the other hand, UCLA struggled with Akron in the first round of the tournament, only beating the MAC champs 57-53. After that game they went on to defeat a hot St. Marys team 72-56. These two teams were supposed to meet last December but a Covid outbreak for UCLA forced a cancellation of the game.
Iowa State @ Miami
The No. 11 seeded Iowa State Cyclones (22-12) and No. 10 seeded Miami Hurricanes (25-10) have both had somewhat Cinderella Tournaments so far, with all of their wins so far being upsets. Iowa State defeated LSU in their first game, 59-54, before going on to beat Wisconsin in the round of 32. Miami came away with a 2-pt win against USC in the first round before putting a beat down No. 2 seeded Auburn, 79-61. The Hurricanes as a team have committed just 7 turnovers total in the first two rounds of the Tournament. The Midwest regional game will take place tonight at the United Center.
